Synopsis:
En 1865, la ville de Bruxelles a commencé un chantier dévoué à voûter la Senne : la rivière qui coulait dans le centre- ville était devenue si polluée pendant la Révolution Industrielle que les autorités l’ont considérée comme un danger pour la santé publique. Une histoire telle que le voûtement de la Senne montre notre division du monde naturel aussi bien littéralement que figurativement. Au fond de chacun de nous coule une rivière enterrée — une conscience enterrée — submergée sous les mêmes courants antipathiques de divisions qui ont conduit à la Révolution Industrielle. Bien des Bruxellois d’aujourd’hui n’ont jamais aperçu la rivière.
In 1865, Brussels commenced a six-year project devoted to burying the Senne: a river in the heart of the city which had become so polluted during the Industrial Revolution that officials deemed it a public health hazard. The story of the burying of the Senne is one which demonstrates our separateness from nature both literally and figuratively. Within each of us is a buried river— a buried consciousness— submerged beneath the same antipathetical currents of separateness which drove the Industrial Revolution. The river flows on within all of us.

«When I make a hat, I like to put the right vibe and connections in it. The person who wears the hat can feel my energy, we can feel connected.» Dans son atelier du Malchijah Hats Store à Brooklyn, sur une vieille machine à coudre de chapelier Willcox & Gibbs, Marcus Kilkenny nous a parlé de son métier tout en sculptant notre chapeau. «If you wear my crown, I like for you to feel a touch of regal, a touch of empowerment.» Nous avons fait un film dans lequel nos amis ont pioché des petites «matières à penser» dans le chapeau de Marcus. Les participants méditent sur l’océan, la lune, la profondeur de la musique, de l’amour, de l’individualité... dans un monde qui ne cesse de changer.

In the back of The Malchijah Hats Store, on an old fashioned Willcox & Gibbs millinery sewing machine, Marcus Kilkenny spoke to us as he sculpted a hat out of a velvety gray fabric. If you wear my crown, I like for you to feel a touch of regal, a touch of empowerment. We made a film in which our friends drew open prompts from Marcus’ hat. The participants ponder the ocean, the moon, and the profundity of music, love, and individuality in a continually changing world.

Synopsis:
Concert for the Sun est une expérience cinématographique et musicale où s’associent paysages contemplatifs et séquences d’archives. Des images tournées au caméscope dans les années 80 dévoilent un jeune couple amoureux de la nature. Sans dire un mot, le film tend à composer une impression sur le passé et le présent, explorant le langage du Soleil, intrument narratif et formel du récit, comme un rappel lumineux de ce qui est éphémère, chaotique et flou : la nature de notre propre être.
Concert for the Sun is a cinematic and musical experience where contemplative landscapes and archival footage meet. Images from the 80’s show a young couple enamored of nature. Without the use of words, the film explores the language of the Sun both as an instrument of linearity and form as well as a luminous reminder of that which is ephemeral, chaotic, and formless: the nature of our own being.
